What about this puppy : http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayIS...:middle:us
Looks like a GT3788V. Probably removed because of carbon stuck vanes.
Anybody got any info or opinion on this turbo?
Manufacturer - RENAULT, Model - MASCOTT, Year - 2003, Engine - ZD30CTi, HP - 154, CC - 3.0/4, FUEL - D, Model - GT2360V, Part Number - 726372-0005, O.E.M. Part No. - 7.701.475.400
Those have been popping up on ebay.co.uk from Japan. For 399-499 brit lb and up. Not such a bad price for 23frame. If I get a Garret this is probably what I will get. I have passed up on the 2056 as I feel it is to small for my wants.

that Renault turbo looks very similar to my Rajay turbo from 1974 I wonder if it would fit in my turbo kit with some mods

I would have to see one in person! But the input flange for the exhaust is 3 bolt holes like my Rajay one looks off set! I bet I could just drill another hole! In my exhaust elbow on the turbo side

It should be a GT2052V, the ZD30 engine is a nissan motor which Renault gets to use as a shareholder perk.

Added the Schwitzer S410. I found this turbo in the scrap bin and managed to save the two pressure actuators and the turbine/compressor wheels. It was trashed because the turbine housing has major heat cracks inside and the brake actuator lever broke.
The wastegate is very unusual. Its actuated with truck air rather than boost, its uses a rotating cylinder rather than a flat valve and the exhaust is vented out of the turbo past the exhaust brake.
The exhaust brake is unusual as well, and a Mercedes part. The vanes are contained in the turbo outlet and partially block the turbine's flow path rather than the turbo outlet as traditional. It can work as both an exhaust brake and a VGT style vane system to quicken spooling. Its almost an external version of Holset's VGT vanes. The turbo has a shaft speed sensor for the computer to prevent overspeed.

It lags behind by a few years. It doesn't have data for many of the 08/09 years that occurred because of the emissions changes. It also lacks info on American models.
That doesn't mean its a bad resource, I use it quite often when researching non-USA vehicles.

Lots of info on different turbos
How much radial and axial play is acceptable on the turboshaft on a general basis? Especially Garrett GTv series.
I had a look at a used 2056v yesterday. It had about 1mm radial slack. no rubbing. Axial play was zero. Is that normal? Will the slack go away when it is under normal oilpress? I chose not to buy the turbo for now.
here's a question I've never seen addressed:
what do you call the short section of pipe which joins the turbo to the intake manifold? the stock t3 / om617 setup has one of these. i've seen it referred to as an "intermediate tube".
I'm wondering where I'm going to find one for the GT2256V I have. I didn't realize this until it arrived, but the compressor exit tube is conjoined to an aluminum plate underneath it, such that you can't slip something over the end of it (like a silicone hose).
for those of you with 2256v's, what did you do at the compressor outlet?
I call it the cone. I don't know why they did it, but the 2256 has an adapter of sorts that clips into the outlet and a normal hose clamps onto it.
I got a cast aluminum turbo tube from a saab 900 and welded it into the outlet.

There is a band clamp that secures the two together.

it just occurred to me that the mechanically and electronically actuated compressor housings are different. I'll try to post a photo later, but for the electronically actuated version, part of the compressor outlet is sort of embedded in a big plate of aluminum, so there's no way you could get something like a v-band clamp around it, and you also can't slide a silicone hose over it either.
the internal diameter appears to be 35mm. I may have to find a 35mm aluminum hose coupler and have someone tig weld that on. Ideally I'd have some sort of aluminum cone which would expand to a larger diameter, but I may have to just use several silicone expanders to do that.

GT25C is too generic, we need to know the compressor measurements.
Exciting news, Cummins' 3.3L and 4.5L Tier 4 emissions engines will be getting VG turbos! That means at least two new models of VGT that will fit our flow range as well as or better than the HE341Ve.
