I may have an opportunity to purchace an om606.91x non turbo, what internal changes were made on the turbos? Can I add piston cooling oil jets? I'm contemplating a high performance build with an om603 turbo ip.

Every specific difference between turbo & NA has been listed and repeated on the forum before. Basically, you'll want/have to replace everything important if you're looking for high performance. Search and read.
It's best to just get a turbo motor and skip all the bullshitski.
I wasn't looking for one and found a sick deal. Then 2 more pop up on CList so I post them up here...no takers.
Save up $1,000 and you'll have one in <2 months (if you search).

water , water , water boys,
is posible to turbocherge the 606.910 , there´s just a small diferences for the .96X. and belive me it will hold.
but as another member said is better to buy a .96X , and a mechanical IP. Smile

The n/a engine will hold about 300hp. I wouldn't go much higher for street use. It probably can hold more but reliability would be a problem.

For racing purposes get a turbo engine. You'll need piston cooling, beefier rod etc.

Btw, I did a 0-260 or something (end of the speedo) with my turbo'd n/a 603. That was fun Big Grin it held up fine but when I got off the highway oil pressure was 0.5/1 bar.

The n/a OM606 has oil cooling nozzles just like the turbo.Rods and pistons are different and that's pretty much it. The n/a intake camshaft if i remember correctly is different but that doesn't matter much.If i was you I would turbocharge it for some extra power for a daily driver. But for a high perfomance build i would get a 606.96x engine.

yep... oil was really hot. I have everything stock. So no oil cooler or heat exchanger. it's probably oil running true the super hot turbo and not enough cooling.

are you running a n/a too? 606 do have an oil cooler right?

Thanks, I'll pass on this one, I tried searching but sometimes basic information gets burried deep in threads that seem unrelated.

its a bit strange , buying a 606 N/A here sems a very odd, anyhow a know a felow that bought a 617A instead of a 605.
very close to me there is a few engines in scrap yards ,turbo 606 , 05, and 04´s a lot , around 600 to 800 € , usually N/A are a lot more expensive like 1200€ , but they just dont know for sure that u can use the same IP.
dont give up so quick, the bigest wories u have is find oil suply to the turbo, but even that is easy to do.
the rest is like stealing from babies Wink

Running a turbo engine (606.962), thus it has the hoses ready for my 19 row cooler which i'm putting just behind the front spoiler. I was considering putting a 25 row cooler, however I don’t think that will fit. I don’t know if you could put a turbo filter tower on a NA engine, but you can certainly do the reverse.
