Ask from Roman (http://turbobandit.com). He`s using 722.3 trannys. Most of cars have 600+ Nm.

That's awesome.
It would be great to have a semi-reliable trans to put behind a merc STD without shipping stuff from europe
The 722.3 can easily handle in excess of 400lb/ft of torque if built properly and the pressures are set up properly. I ran over 300lb/ft of torque through a stock one in my 300ce for years. Main thing is to turn up the pressures. They shift terrible but can take some abuse. The modulator does a lot for the main pressure. If it is shifting firm then it is ok.
What else has to be done besides pressures?
Different valve body set up, different clutches, more clutches etc?
Just redo the clutch packs to have more clutches in them like the v8/v12 transmissions. The brake bands are all the same. Then turn up the modulator. If you need more than that you would have to start playing with spring pressures in the valve body. But I would imagine that would cover you. The modulator adjustment makes a lot of difference.
Whipplem104, you seem to be one of most knowledgable people on STD about these merc autos. Do you have a recommendation of anyone in the Eastern US to work on one? I want to have mine fine through and beefed up before I put it behind my 603
Are you running a 722.3? If so I would recommend Blue Ridge MB. In Atlanta He does a lot of work on the 722.3s.
I have one mated to my 603 that is going into my car. I was wanting to send it out before I do the swap this winter. I'm located in Ohio, so shipping would kill me
Well you could have a local transmission shop just go through it and freshen it up and then get a valve body from someone. It really just depends on how much power you are making what is worth it.
Will blue ridge sell a built valve body?
I wish you or blue ridge were closer, then I'd just send it to you and have it done right for sure haha

Russell is one of the most knowledgable individuals on the INTERNET about these transmissions and his work speaks for itself. If you guys only knew what he's accomplished with these transmissions you'd be amazed.
A happy customer.
