Hello!

Can it be problem is the small turbo is just too small and causing too big backpressure?

It's about GT20wg size.

hey man, u are walking the wrong road, have two gt20 one for each trio of cylinders, choose the ones that fire 120º appart.
0 /120/240, the other 60/180/300~

If you mean compound then you need a big enough wg to bypass the small turbo as it becomes a gas restriction at high rpms




Installed:

OM606/722.6, big IC, W220 brakes.
Planned:
DIY manifold, compound, 722.6 controller, built IP.

I was going to do the same thing. How did you route the exhaust side? The butterfly valve you showed should block off the big turbo and not the small one, so when the big turbo is needed the valve opens and lets the big turbo breathe.

Problem is when that valve opens all drive pressure will fall to zero and boost will fall with it and you get a big step in the power curve and big puff o smoke.

I couldn't really work out how to control staging like that mechanically ie lots of actuators and flappy things (the onus being on not using electronics).

Perhaps the small turbo wastegate feeds the big turbo to start it spooling before flappy opens?

We are not using electronic now and wastegate and i tested today it going really good!
