Is the gearbox you intend using the dog-leg Getrag box? The changer turret for the 'normal' gearbox won't  work with a dog-leg box and vice versa. This is because reverse and first/fifth gear are in different positions on each box.
Drive shaft for a manual box is also longer in the front half. The rear half and center bearing are the same. Clutch and brake pedal unit is a straight swop for the auto one. The clutch fluid is fed from the rear half of the brake cyl reservoir but it is better imho to provide a separate fluid reservoir.
You also need the manual gearbox rear crossmember.

Flywheel and clutch must be from 16v. 24v dual mass Flywheel will not fit with 717.404 box.

The 190e box is a 717.404 which has the long input shaft and should be fine with the SM flywheel but not the DM.
The 124 box is a 717.450 which has a short input and needs the DM flywheel although whether they use the same casing and gearchange turret or not I don't know for certain but probably. If you have the manual driveshaft it should fit. It's the auto one that shorter.

The bigger the clutch the better if you can find the flywheel from an 86 300E that one takes a 9.5" clutch disc

Yes that is a single mass flywheel. The 190 with a 2.6 engine takes a smaller disc 9 inch

why use the expensive and not for high torque made 16 tranny?
if you use the 717.450 you can use the Spinter single mass set and you have a tranny that works better and which you can fix again if it is broken

as far as i know its the oposite way around, aqcuantances that broke three 717.450 with 350hp something, (unknown torque) but not heaploads anyhow, while people beat the 717.404 a lot harder. A LOT

what makes the 717.450 more easy to fix btw? availability in parts?
