W123 4spd swap driveshaft question
W123 4spd swap driveshaft question
As title states:
As countless people have done/talked about doing, i'm putting an aluminum 4spd (83 240d) into my 1983 300D (us spec)
Bought the entire car for the swap. Wrecked in the front.
Here's my question- regarding the driveshaft.
From my understanding, ~19.5" is the length you want out of the front shaft in order to swap the 4spd into an om617 equipped w123. & a 240d 4spd shaft is 24". So lop ~4" off and balance?
Or- i found this shaft pictured. Coming from trans back, colors are Green/Green/Red/Green.
Seller claims "Mounting flange to end of coupling nut is 21"
It came from a 1982ish 300CD coupe, that had an iron box 4spd swap.
Shouldn't this shaft bolt right into my w123 300D sedan with the aluminum 4spd swapped in?
Thanks!

Remember coupes have a shorter body...I'd think they'd make the front shaft shorter rather than have a different rear one. Don't know if the 4 speed Getrag boxes are the same length as the iron ones. I can't tell you much else sorry...
