Looks like the arms on the STT plenum are broken off. How does it keep the plenum from lifting off the intake mouth from boost pressure?
There was a aluminium casting that protruded from the plenum down towards the inlet manifold, there was a silicone hose coupling with double jubilee clips. I never had any problems with it popping off under boost. If memory serves correctly there was a rolled/cast lip on the plenum to help retain the hose.

Setting of the injection pump
Basic setting
Regulating rods heave put{stop} RH ' " with the firm set screw of the measuring clock (Bosch original tools) on 14.0mm (Pumping speeds 1000 revo, throttle lever in the full load position).
Release afterwards the firm set screw of the measuring clock loose and with it{thus} the control pole.
Maximum amounts
Condition: Pumping speeds 1000 revo, regulating lever in the full load position. Control seaweeds heave RH with the set screw (25) 15.5 mms bring.
Then with the stroke adjustment screw (17, torque capsule) a further 2 mms on 17.5mm longer.
With the engine speed 1,600rpm and 2,180rpm in the same way.
Important! The values given in the service communications indicated and forces are appoximate values and admit deviations in the large (grossenordnung) by some 10.
Superior Idle speed
Regulating levers in the full load position pump with 2,550 revos drive and with the spring seat (23) set to 10.5mm. Check Quantity 26ccm ca.
Low idle
Turn adjustment screw (50) 2 turns ccw.
Turn (28) ccw until a gap occurs towards the inner low idle stop of the external linkage lever.
After that proceed as follows:
1) Close the gap (eliminate the play) by carefully turning the screw cw.
2) Turn the screw (still 28) cw another 1/6 turn
At 350/min adjust the rod travel to 6,5 mm by turning screw (29). The quantity should be 7,0 ccm.
Then increase the rev to 370/min (what will result in a different rod position) and increase the rod travel by 0,1 – 0,2 mm by turning (50).
With PrOfdrehzahl350 revo the control seaweeds heave RH with the screw (29) put{stop} on 6.5 mrn. Controlling amount 7.0 cern.
Afterwards the Prufdrehzahl on 370 revos rise ern and the arising{surrendering} control seaweeds heave RH with the screw (50) urn 0.1 0.2 rnm verlangern.
Nachprufung leerlaufstellung
With the Prufdrehzahl820 revo and regulating lever in the empty run poster the control seaweeds heave is allowed to do RH 2.5 mms nieht iibersehreiten.

That looks more like a plenum, there are no fins or holes for cooling anything.

Old thread,but I just had to add pics of one I have discovered here in Australia.
It's been sitting or 2 years in a mechanics storage yard after the owner drove over a supermarket parking stop. It ripped the alloy sump off the engine. The Garage repaired and it runs well but the owner has disappeared . once i find the owner,the car is mine. (wish me luck ,ha ha)

AMG sold 240D engines with the STT Kit .
I have since my greasy hands on the 300 STT in the above post
. The car itself is quite good but i have a better 300D manual ...so the whole kit and kaboodle will be swapped over. i have been in touch with STT and they kndly sent me a instruction sheet for the kit....in Swedish.
The kit includes the complete exhaust ...
But i also have a 20D powered W110 station wagon , so i'll be looking for STT parts for that now.
