1991 350SD with $10,000 Dealer Rebuild
Hi,
I'm buying a car with a "$10,000 dealer rebuild" and a $5,000" rebuilt transmission.
Car has 150,000 miles.
Engine was rebuilt by dealer, under warranty 70,000 miles ago.
Rebuilt transmission was installed 35,000 miles ago.
I live in Denver.
Any suggestions on what I can do to help the car perform at my altitude? (It is coming from sea level)
Thank you.
Forced can probably lend more information to the specifics of high altitude operation but the ALDA handles this automatically for you. It is both a pressure (turbo) and vac (ft above sea level) fuel cut off device.
Thank you sir, I appreciate your help. I just learned this morning that the 3.5 liter diesel is actually less powerful than the 3.0 diesel that it replaces. That was a little disappointing to me so I found this forum.

(The car is supposed to be immaculate, seats are in new condition (had sheepskins on them til recently), woman, doctor driven all it's life. They put a ton of money into servicing it all of it's life at the dealer)
But it dose have more low end torque!
A VNT will give the 3.0 much more torque without bending the rods like a 3.5
With the motor being rebuilt, and with relatively better diesel fuel now available. I think he should be just fine.
