guess it depends on how big the turbo. I dont really know but I would say for much over 200BHP a bigger exhaust would be needed. Exactly what your max would be on 2.5" though I will have to leave to others.
It isnt really the ultimate power either as a larger exhaust will let the turbo spool quicker as well

Just go and get 3" and dump it behind the passenger front tire :-)....no but really, why not just throw the 3" on so you don't have to worry about restriction being a factor?
I'm sure someone will disagree about high rpm back pressure.... I default to 3" but that's just me. Cost isn't that different.

3" is easy to find performance stuff for, 2.5" is easy to find in stores.
Technically 2.5" should be fine.

Im looking at a lot of money for a 3''.
The guy was explaining to me that if you bend a 3'' (mandrel or some crap) it reduces the size at it stretches. Also he wasn't prepared to do a 3'' as it may need to be bodged with the equipment he has. A 3'' system is about £300 more as well.
I think 2.75'' will be fine. I have a 3'' exit that bodged on due to a broken hangar and its mahusive.

it seems to me that if diameter would be getting reduced at the bends then he would NOT be using a mandrel. isn't consistent cross sectional area the whole point?

Later in 2014 i will need someone to fabricate a 3.5" system for my W124.
im running 3 inches right from the turbo,no muffler exiting right in front of the rear tire,quicker spool and a beautiful turbo whine from the exhaust
